FLORENCE, Colo. (AP) — A man convicted of killing American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash has been transferred to a federal prison in Colorado.
Arlo Looking Cloud, 51, arrived at the United States Penitentiary in Florence, Colo., on Friday.
A federal jury in Rapid City convicted him in February of first-degree murder committed in the perpetration of a kidnapping. He received a mandatory life sentence in April and could be eligible for parole after 10 years.
His paternal aunt, Martha Featherman of Denver, said she was pleased he will be close enough to visit.
"That's wonderful," she said. "I'm going to see him when I hear from him. He said he's going to call."
