RAPID CITY -- Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., will be in Rapid City Tuesday, Oct. 26, to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Thune.
Dole will appear at a pancake feed scheduled to run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Rushmore Room at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
Tickets will not be required to attend.
"Just show up," said Thune campaign manager Dick Wadhams.
Dole is expected to give a speech, but her husband, 1996 presidential candidate and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, is not expected to attend, Wadhams said.
Automated calls to individual households announcing the visit were made Friday.
Dole gained national prominence in the 1980s as President Ronald Reagan's transportation secretary, the first woman to hold that cabinet post. Before her election to the Senate in 2002, she had served as the second woman since founder Clara Barton to serve as president of the American Red Cross.

Wadhams said Dole's visit will not mark the first of a string of final-week campaign stops by high-profile Republicans.
"We have nobody else right now. That could change next week," Wadhams said. "She made herself available on fairly short notice. But we don't expect anybody really, really, really high profile, if you know what I mean. They are busy doing other things."
