Duck race winners announced

RAPID CITY - More than 15,500 ducks were sponsored in Sunday's 16th annual Great Black Hills Duck Race, which helped raise more than $90,000 for Children's Miracle Network.

Individuals could sponsor up to 15 ducks for $5 each. All of the money raised will be used to provide services and equipment for ill and injured children in the Black Hills area served by Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The flock was dropped off Sunday afternoon near the West Main Street McDonald's. The 1.5-mile race ended at Memorial Park. More than $23,000 in prizes were awarded to the first 29 ducks to cross the finish line.

The duck owned by Yvonne Crisman of Rapid City finished first, earning Crisman $5,000 from Rapid City area McDonald's.

Other prize winners and prizes included:

n Second: Carole Riddle, Rapid City, a four-night Mexico vacation from Modrick's Cruise and Travel.

n Third: Tonya Jockish, Rapid City, $2,000 from American Family Insurance.

n Fourth: Coral Gravatt, Rapid City, $1,500 from Radiology Associates.

n Fifth: Mitzi Ranggaard, Piedmont, $1,000 from Coca-Cola Bottling of the Black Hills.

n Sixth: Joyce Busskohl, Custer, $1,000 from US Bank.

n Seventh: Judy Hersrud, Black Hawk, $1,000 from Casey Peterson and Associates.

n Eighth: Thomas Stone, Rapid City, $1,000 from Gold Pages Publishing.

n Ninth: Bruce Rampelberg, Rapid City, $1,000 merchandise certificate from Riddle's Jewelry.

n 10th: Rapid City Regional Hospital Medical Records, $750 Entertainment Package — DVD player and one DVD movie rental per week for one year from Mr. Movies, Cambell Street store.

n 11th: Patty Rogers, Black Hawk, $750 entertainment package — DVD player and one DVD movie rental per week for one year from Mr. Movies, Sturgis Road store.

n 12th: Dave and Delilah Oerlline, Rapid City, $500 from Radiology Associates.

n 13th: Jean Hawkinson, Rapid City, $500 from Black Hills Agency.

n 14th: Kay Reckling, Rapid City, $500 from US Bank.

n 15th: Esther Sharp, Rapid City, $500 from First Western Bank.

n 16th: Leslie Brookes, Rapid City, $500 shopping spree from Family Thrift Center.

n 17th: Andrew Belsuas, Rapid City, $100 gas certificate at Big D Stations and one year car wash pass for Big D West Main Car Wash ($425 total value.).

n 18th: Susan Goodrich, Rapid City, $360 value candy bouquet — one bouquet per month for one year from Candy Bouquet.

n 19th: Connie Fenenga, Rapid City, $250 from Radiology Associates.

n 20th: Lanita Curley, Hot Springs, $250 from Radiology Associates.

n 21st: Gail Cook, Box Elder, $200 shopping spree from Family Thrift Center.

n 22nd: Intermountain Tech, Rapid City, $200 shopping spree from Family Thrift Center.

n 23rd: Pebbles Patterson, Rapid City, $150 apparel package from Apria Health Care.

n 24th: Amanda Sheehan, Rapid City, $125 ice cream package — ice cream for one year from Gillette Dairy.

n 29th: Kim Diffont, Rapid City, $100 refreshment package — one case of Coke or Diet Coke each month for one year from Coca-Cola Bottling of the Black Hills.
