Douglas Gresham, the stepson of C.S. Lewis, offers a rare glimpse into the personal life of the famous author with his new memoir, “Jack’s Life: The Life Story of C.S. Lewis.”
Gresham’s book was published in October before the screening of the movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” which opened Friday.
Gresham served as a co-producer for the movie, and the book is an affectionate tribute to Lewis.
“Jack was the finest man and best Christian I’ve ever known,” Gresham said in a written statement. “This book is a way for me to honor his profound influence on my life.”
Gresham lived in England with Lewis for a dozen years, including the years after the death of his mother, Joy Davidman, to cancer.
Others books published by Broadman & Holman to coincide with the movie’s release are:
- “Narnia Beckons: C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — and Beyond,” a coffee table book by Ted Baehr filled with photos and stories about the writing of the book and scholarly essays by literature and theology experts on Lewis.
- “Further Up and Further In: Understanding C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” which is a reference companion to the first book in “The Chronicles.”
- “The Keys to the Chronicles: Unlocking the Symbols of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia,” is for those readers who are ready to go deeper into the entire series. It unlocks the literary, linguistic, biographical, biblical and mythological depth of Lewis’s masterpiece.
