From bluegrass to flamenco, this year’s Guitar Masters concerts will explore a myriad of musical tastes.
Sponsored by Backroom Productions, the concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, at The Dahl Arts Center.
The shows feature mountain/bluegrass guitar master Jalan Crossland from Wyoming, rock guitarist Bruce Neubert of Rapid City, gospel/country picker Donnie Williams of the Black Hills and flamenco guitar master Chris Jacome of Arizona.
Crossland is a recent winner of the National Finger Picking Championship contest and an occasional performer in the Black Hills area.
Neubert is a two-time winner of the Guitar Wars contest and will, for the first time, perform acoustically as well as on his electric guitar.
Williams, formerly of Foggy Notion and Harvest Bluegrass Band, makes a rare performance after retiring from performing 10 years ago.
Jacome learned flamenco guitar while living in Spain, studying with flamenco masters Miguel Aragon and Manolo Franco. Recently on tour in Brazil, Jacome is performing at the Guitar Masters while visiting relatives in Rapid City.
The musicians perform in a round-robin style, and tickets are $16. They can be bought in advance at The Dahl or by calling 394-4101.
