SIOUX FALLS (AP) - A Sioux Falls program that appoints state inmates to train dogs has received a $2,400 boost.
The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation gave the grant recently to the local Humane Society chapter.
Under the Paroled Pup Project, inmates from the penitentiary are given a dog from the shelter for several weeks. They teach basic obedience, which increases the dogs' chances of adoption, executive director Suzanne Zutter said.
