A team of concrete-canoe builders from South Dakota School of Mines will take their craft to the 2006 National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Tech's team won the Rocky Mountain Regional American Society of Civil Engineers concrete-canoe competition held here on Friday and Saturday.
Their canoe, the Screamin' Eagle, is 21-feet long and weighs between 220 and 230 pounds.
The University of Oklahoma will host the national competition at Stillwater, Okla., from June 15-17.
Only first place winners in 18 regional contests are eligible to compete in the national contest.
Canoe teams are judged by their academic application of construction skills and the canoe's performance in water.
