Appointed: South Dakota School of Mines & Technology announced that Charles “Tex” Claymore has been named director of admissions. He comes to the school from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, and he has more than 30 years of experience in recruitment, admissions and retention. … Rushmore Mortgage named two new loan originators to its staff. Rita Johnson recently relocated from Florida to Custer and has two years of experience in the mortgage lending business. She will represent Rushmore Mortgage in the Southern Hills and Wyoming. Kim Wagenman recently moved from North Dakota to Spearfish. He will manage Rushmore Mortgage’s new Spearfish branch office. He has 28 years of experience in business management.
Named: The Rapid City Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives announced that Don Theye is the chapter’s new chairman. He will coordinate community outreach, recruiting and the chapter’s small business counseling and workshop programs. Theye has several years of business experience chiefly in the creative arts field and was the founder and former owner of the Perfect Hanging Gallery in Rapid City. From 1987 to 1996, he was business manager for watercolorist Jon Crane.
Joined: Brian Sieck has rejoined Troy Ward and Associates, a Rapid City real-estate firm, as broker associate. His background is new construction and residential property.
Named: Dream Design International, an engineering and land development firm, announced that Mike Bender has joined the firm as a landscape architect. He will provide design, planning and landscape preservation services for the newly formed landscape architecture division of Dream Design International. … Mandalay Homes in Rapid City announced that Zach Clark joined the company’s sales team. Originally a Pierre native, Clark moved to Rapid City after graduating from the University of South Dakota in 2002. He has worked the past four years selling health insurance for Bob Clark Insurance and Carver Insurance.
Appointed: Great Western Bank in Rapid City announced two recent appointments. Melissa Doering was promoted to assistant sales manager at the bank’s Wal-Mart branch. She stared with Great Western in September 2005. Mike Frederiksen joined the bank as assistant manager at the Family Thrift Center East Branch. He moved to Rapid City from Sioux Falls, where he worked four years for Wells Fargo.
Added: Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson added Rich Wells to its team at the Rapid City office. He joins the municipal division as a registered civil engineer in South Dakota and New Mexico and a registered land surveyor in South Dakota. He has more than 23 years of experience.
Joined: KICK 104 (KIQK) in Rapid City announced that Jack “Jackson Beard” Sitch joined the station as program director and morning show host. He is a longtime Rapid City resident and a graduate of Douglas High School and Black Hills State University. He is former executive director of the Black Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition, Kara Andera (Kara MacKenzie) will join Sitch as the KickStart Morning Show co-host. She recently returned to South Dakota after attending the Academy of Radio Broadcasting in Phoenix. Her family lives in Chamberlain.
Completed: Brittany Mertz a legal assistant with the Rapid City law firm of Banks, Johnson, Colbath, Sumner & Kappelman, has completed the two-day Certified Legal Assistant examination, conducted by the National Association of Legal Assistants. She is now entitled to use the CLA professional designation.
Installed: The Black Hills Association of Realtors recently installed new officers and directors for 2006-07. Officers are president Faith Wendt, president-elect Sheila Tom, vice president Kevin Kuehn, secretary/treasurer Ron Kroeger and Tom Rau, immediate past president. New local directors are Kristen Andrews-Lowe, Walt Cannon and Dave Jones. Representing the local association as state directors are Wendt, Tom, Cindy Guthrie, Rau, Mike Alley and Linda Rausch.
