Choose life or death

As the election polls close for the year, the votes cast ... we should ponder the reality of our choices. The vote may have put a damper on Referred Law 6, but it doesn't stop life from going on. The choices will still be made daily.

Abortion will sadly still be contemplated or even happen, whether in S.D. or elsewhere. Pregnancies that were not planned will be. We as people either choose life or choose death. Those are the choices. When an abortion happens, there is no other choice, choose life or choose death, choose life or choose death, choose life or choose death. (It echoes so coldly.)

There is not only matter in the womb, it is a life. Think twice about your choices ... think twice about life.

And always remember, if you don't want the child, adoption is an option. Life is a good thing.

We will be accountable for all our choices one day, whether you believe it or not, we will be accountable. Please make good choices, for your benefit and for the benefit of that little life. Thanks.

Didn't think twice

Terry Williams (Nov. 11 letter), I was raped 25 years ago, got pregnant and had an abortion, never once thinking it was the wrong thing to do "for me," and I have never shed a tear or thought twice about it. Again, my choice, my body.

It's the sign

While reading the article concerning Julie Pearson's decision to change polling places, one question came to mind: Would the politicians be so outraged if the sign involved had read, "No on 6."

I don't think so. They would probably be commending Ms. Pearson instead of condemning her.

Divide and conquer

If the American public seriously analyzed world events, they would find that other countries are dictating how we live in this country. You name it, economics all the way to national politics.

I believe terrorists recognize this and are acting out on the way policies are made in this country. All they have to do is listen to our national news and plan their strategies accordingly. We might as well draw up a plan and give them what our next move is going to be.

It's ironic to see the terrorists make their gain by political bickering which is dividing this country. How does that saying go? "Divide and conquer"? If that's so, I believe we are fighting the war in Iraq under their terms. We are defeating ourselves. This country needs to find a way to unite.

It's becoming clearer that other countries are losing their faith and trust in us as we watch our leadership slipping away.

Anytime there is dissent in Congress on foreign affairs, the terrorists probably applaud.

I think to achieve peace anywhere, the American public has to do it together, united, right or wrong, and strongly stand by the commitments made.

Door is open

We now have built in discrimination in the constitution with the marriage amendment, but it's only against gays so the religious groups are OK with that.

The marriage amendment did leave things open though from what I can see. All that is really required is that the parties be of the opposite sex. It does not specifically say they have to be human or even the same species, just the opposite sex! My dogs and cats are very happy.
