Circuit judge to retire, pursue new career

PIERRE (AP) - Circuit Judge Max Gors said he will retire Dec. 31 after being a judge for 18 years.
Gors, 61, of Pierre, said he plans to become a staff attorney with the state Department of Corrections.
He practiced law for 13 years and worked for state government for seven years before becoming a judge.
The vacancy will be advertised and the Judicial Qualifications Commission will choose two nominees whose names will go to Gov. Mike Rounds. Rounds will name a replacement.
