Men's basketball: N.D. foes get better of 'Rockers, Jackets

JAMESTOWN, N.D. - Jamestown College downed South Dakota Mines, 72-53, during Dakota Athletic Conference men's basketball action Friday night.
The Jimmies opened up a 42-27 lead at halftime and never looked back in claiming the league match-up.
Lawrence Brooks scored 24 points and Jake Holen added 22 for Jamestown. Jordan Olson scored just two points for the Jimmies on 0-for-7 shooting, however, he pulled down 21 rebounds.
Mines was led by Brandon Fredrickson's 17 points.
Blake Tideman and Andrew Brown added eight markers apiece. Standout post Casey Schmitz was held without a field goal and finished with four points.
Mines got out-rebounded 35-24, however, the Hardrockers went 10-for-17 from three-point range.
Mines (9-11, 4-2 DAC) plays at Valley City State and Jamestown (12-8,
3-3) hosts Black Hills State this afternoon.
In other DAC action on Friday, the Valley City men's team beat Black Hills State, 77-63.
Black Hills State, which was coming off an upset win over Mayville State last Saturday, fell to 6-14 overall and 1-4 in league play with the loss.
The win allows Valley City State (10-9) to take over the conference lead with a 5-1 mark.
