RAPID CITY -- The man who jumped to his death from an eighth-floor window of the Radisson Hotel early Monday morning was the brother of the front man for the band Seether.

Eugene Welgemoed died shortly after midnight Monday when he jumped out of a window on the north side of the Radisson Hotel on Main Street in downtown Rapid City.

Welgemoed's brother, Shaun Morgan, is the lead singer and guitarist for Seether, a rock band that performed Saturday night at the Buffalo Chip.

The room Welgemoed jumped from is situated toward the east end of the building facing Eighth Street. The window he jumped from faced the north, toward the parking lot of the Radisson. Albertson's grocery is north of that parking lot.

According to the Seether Web site, upcoming shows in Idaho and Mississippi have been canceled due to Welgemoed's death. Welgemoed was not a member of the band but was on tour with them.

Rapid City Police said Welgemoed was in his 20s and was originally from South Africa but had moved to California.

Message boards on Seether's Web site are filled with regards for Shaun Morgan and speculation about what happened.

According to police, no foul play is suspected in the death. It was ruled a suicide after investigation Monday.

Radisson officials would not comment on the incident.
