PIERRE — Two teenage boys escaped injury but their all-terrain vehicle didn’t fare as well when it got stuck on railroad tracks.
The 16-year-olds were riding the ATV east of Pierre Wednesday evening when it hit some mud and they were thrown off. The ATV became lodged on nearby railroad tracks.
The mother of one boy said the two tried for about five minutes to dislodge the ATV as a train approached, but they were unsuccessful and ran for safety as the train demolished it.
