Schools to present holiday concerts

The Stevens High School Chamber Orchestra and the Dakota Voices will present a Sing-Along “Messiah” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Immaculate Conception Church, 922 Fifth St.

Excerpts from George F. Handel’s masterwork will be performed by the orchestra under the direction of Bill Evans, with solos sung by the Dakota Voices, under the direction of James Feiszli.

The audience will be encouraged to sing along on seven well-known choruses throughout the concert.

There are no advance ticket sales. Suggested donations of $5 for adults and $3 for students will be taken at the door, benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The Stevens/Central Christmas Concert, featuring both orchestras and choirs, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center

n 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, and Sunday, Dec. 9 — 25th annual Christmas concert, presented by the School of Mines Concert Choir and Master Chorale, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral.

n 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 — Stevens High School orchestra/chorus concert, in the Stevens theater

n 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 — South Middle School orchestra and choir, concert, at South.

n 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 — West Middle School orchestra/chorus concert, in the Stevens theater

n 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 — Dakota Middle School orchestra concert, at Dakota

n 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 — North Middle School orchestra, chorus and band concert, at North

n 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 — Douglas High School winter concert, in the high school theater, featuring audience caroling at 6:40 p.m.

n 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 — Dakota Middle School band concert, at Dakota

n 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 — Central High School orchestra/chorus concert, at Central theater

n 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 — Douglas High School winter band concert, at the school.

n 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 — Southwest Middle School orchestra/chorus concert, in the  Stevens theater

n 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 — South Middle School winter band concert, at South
