The Black Hills Blues Society will present Tempa and the Tantrums at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Dublin Square.
Tempa’s style infuses blues, Cajun, bluegrass and rock; she is most commonly compared to Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Koko Taylor and Diana Krall, according to a news release.
Before starting her own band, Tempa captured the attention of Denver music lovers as a member of the Flesh Mannequins.
Other members of the Tantrums include Joseph Barton on guitar and David “Puddin” Foret on bass and backing vocals. The group is a five-time nominee and the winner in 2006 of Colorado’s Westword Music Showcase Awards. The group, which will go on its first European tour next July, has a new EP out called “Voodoo & Angels.”
Tickets are $10 at the door; admission is free for Black Hills Blues Society members. For more information, call 381-8472.
