The Scottish and Irish Society of the Black Hills will celebrate Robert Burns’ birthday at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Dublin Square Irish Pub in Rapid City.
Celtic music duo Men of Worth will headline the event. Local Celtic group String Thaw will open the program, and Scottish piper Darren Williams will perform. A Scottish dinner — including haggis — will be served.
Burns’ birthday is important to members of the Scottish and Irish society because he is credited with helping preserve parts of Scottish culture and music, including translating “Auld Lang Syne.” He is the poet laureate of Scotland.
Tickets cost $20 for society members and $25 for nonmembers. They are available at the Celtic Connection, the Dahl Arts Center and Dublin Square.
