'Drive-By Shooting' coming to Hill City

Commercial photographer and Black Hills State University graduate Rodger Slott will show his first professional exhibit later this month at Prairie Berry Winery in Hill City.

Slott, who has been shooting commercially since 1987, will present "Drive-By Shooting" at the winery on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The exhibit's name comes from the way Slott tries to to capture everything he wants on location shoots and still meet a client's needs. Most of the images from those "stolen moments" between items on the shot list are from shoots in Cambodia, Japan and various locations in the U.S.

Raised in Rapid City, Slott graduated with a degree in photojournalism from Black Hills State University before going on to train under commercial photographers in Dallas.

Today, Slott works out of Rapid City with regional advertising agencies, architectural firms and corporations.

“Drive-by Shooting” will be showing at Prairie Berry Winery, 23837 U.S. Highway 385 in Hill City, as the winery’s first fine art exhibit.

The exhibit will be free and open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays from Feb. 23 through May 11.
