Lauren Pelon Musique Company to explore roots of music

The Lauren Pelon Musique Company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at Black Hills State University.

The program, titled “The Living Roots of Music,” is composed of music from the first century through today and features instruments such as archlute, guitar, lute-guitar, lyre, recorder and MIDI-pedalboard. Pelon’s current program features music from ancient Greece, medieval and renaissance Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. She also traces the story of music and tells stories about the development of instruments throughout history.

Pelon has performed as a soloist with symphony orchestras, on television specials and with Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” She will host a special performance for college students.
