Tennis: Rapid City native helps USD improve to 13-4

ORLANDO, Fla. — Rapid city native Ashley Waltman won two matches in straight sets to help the University of South Dakota women’s tennis team pickup wins against Franklin Pierce and Salve Regina University on Sunday.

Waltman, a junior, defeated Valerie Leso 6-0, 6-1 as the Coyotes beat Salve Regina University 7-2. 

USD blanked Franklin Pierce 9-0 with Waltman defeating Francesca Santoro 6-0, 6-0.

Waltman teamed up with freshman Janea Hagen to also pick up two doubles victories. The Coyotes won five of six doubles matches in the two wins.

The University of South Dakota has now won seven straight matches and improves to 13-4 on the season.
