Konechne leaves Mines for position at Augustana

RAPID CITY — Ann Konechne has been named as the athletic department’s compliance coordinator and senior woman administrator at Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
Konechne will begin her new duties on May 1, giving her a chance to work with Madsen during the transition.
“We are excited to have Ann join our staff,” Augustana athletic director Bill Gross said. “She has a solid blend of athletic experiences as a coach and administrator and we are looking forward to the blend of talents Ann will bring to our staff.”
Konechne spent the past year as the South Dakota School of Mines athletic department’s marketing director and also assistant women’s basketball coach.
Konechne was a decorated basketball player at South Dakota Mines from 1996-99. In 126 career games, she scored 1,654 points, which ranks her fifth on the school’s career scoring chart, grabbed 624 rebounds, recorded 316 assists and blocked 81 shots. She also shares the record for the most 3-point field goals in a game (6), owns the most 3-point field goals in a season (69) as well as in a career (153).
