Groups challenge Rounds to fight unintended pregnancy

Nine organizations concerned with the health and well-being of women plan a joint press conference at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn. The groups will ask Governor Mike Rounds to “use his leadership to find practical solutions to unintended pregnancy in South Dakota,” according to a news release.

The groups say unintended pregnancy is a serious public health issue in South Dakota and the governor can create sound policy that will reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion.

The group includes members of AAUW South Dakota, Democracy In Action – Rapid City, South Dakota League of Women Voters, NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota, National Women's Political Caucus – South Dakota, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, the South Dakota Advocacy Network for Women, the South Dakota Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault and South Dakota NOW.
