Sturgis Soccer club to hold movie night fundraiser
RAPID CITY —Recently, the Sturgis Soccer Club met to raise funds to pay for lighting and to send soccer players to summer camp in Brookings.
On July 5, Lynn’s Dakota Mart allowed parents and players to utilize parking space and water to hold a car wash. O’Reilly’s and parents of soccer players donated supplies for the event. Over $400 was raised during the suds-a-thon. To help defray costs for camp and for the new lights at the Sturgis Soccer Field, the Fraternal Order of Police donated $280, but over $3,000 still needs to be raised.
On Aug. 16 at 7 p.m., the gates will be opened in Sturgis Park for a Movie in the Park. The school-age appropriate movie will begin at 8 p.m. Security will be provided to ensure a positive experience for all attending persons.
There will be no charge for the movie. Parents and soccer players will work the concession stand to raise money for the high school soccer camp and the lighting fund, which is why people are asked not to bring in beverages or food to the event.
