Rapid City woman sentenced for identity theft

A Rapid City woman has been sentenced to six years in the state penitentiary for misusing Social Security numbers to open bank accounts and write insufficient funds checks.
Tessa Halvorson, 25, was convicted on three counts of felony identity theft in May. Seventh Circuit Judge A.P. Fuller sentenced Halvorson to two years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for each count.
She will serve the sentences consecutively.
Halvorson must also pay restitution to the Minuteman Federal Credit Union and various court costs.
