The 28th Bomb Wing is preparing to receive approximately 300 airmen as they return from deployments to various locations in Southwest Asia in support of Global War on Terror.
Aircrews from the 37th Bomb Squadron provided the theater commander with the critical long-range strike capability unique to the B-1B Lancer bomber executing the ability to rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and nonprecision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time.
Other Ellsworth airmen, in a non-aviation specific role, are also scheduled to return about midnight Tuesday, July 29, from deployment supporting military operations in various locations worldwide. The returning group includes support personnel, maintainers, logistics readiness, air crews, expeditionary combat support airmen and aircraft.
