FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Jandreau’s efforts help Lyman to rout of Kadoka

KADOKA — Dawson Jandreau scored three times to lead Lyman to a 52-0 rout of Kadoka in a Western Conference football game in Kadoka on Friday.

The game was called in the third quarter due to the mercy rule.

Lyman opened a 16-0 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 46-0 at halftime.

Jandreau had 13 carries for 147 yards in the win.

“We had probably six turnovers,” Kadoka head coach Chad Eisenbraun said. “They probably didn’t have over 200 yards, but we kept giving up the ball deep in our own end zone.”

Kadoka’s Ryan Droese and Jeffrey Patterson each had six tackles to lead the Kougars.

Kadoka (0-3 overall) travels to Wall, while Lyman hosts Gregory. Both games are on Friday.

Todd County 40, Crow Creek 0: Trevor Farmer scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter to fire up the Todd County offense as the Falcons blanked Crow Creek 40-0 in an All Nations Conference football game Friday afternoon.

Canku One Star, Jesus Duran, Seth Larvie and Colin Whirlwind Soldier each added a touchdown in the win.

Todd County rushed for 288 yards and five rushing touchdowns. The Falcon defense drove Crow Creek backwards, holding the Chieftains to -49 yards of total offense.

“We had a decent day rushing,” Todd County coach Robert Kornely, Jr. said. “We improved our rushing game and our rushing defense.”

Duran led the defense with seven tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble. Dusty Old Lodge added six tackles and two sacks.

Todd County (2-0) hosts Custer next Friday and Crow Creek (0-2) travels to Lead-Deadwood to play Little Wound-Crazy Horse in the Prospector Bowl.

AVON 46, COLOME 0: The No. 1-ranked Avon Pirates blanked the Colome Cowboys 46-0 Friday night in prep football action.

The defending Class 9A champion Cowboy’s only loss last season was to Avon and head coach Kevin Graesser knew the Pirates would be tough this season.

“We knew going in that Avon would be one of our toughest opponents,” said Graesser. “They returned a lot of good players and their team speed was too much to handle.”

Colome (0-2 overall) travels to Andes Central on Friday.

Eureka-Bowdle 18, Gettysburg 12: The running game was the difference in Eureka-Bowdle’s 18-12 victory over Gettysburg.

The Patriots’ Mitchell Hoelein rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns, the last of which in the fourth quarter broke a 12-12 tie that had lasted since the second quarter. However, he did not lead the team in rushing. Diego Camargo had 140 yards.

The Battlers also scored both of their touchdowns rushing. Erik Hansen rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown, and Jared Schrempp rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Faith 54, McLaughlin 0: Faith shut down McLaughlin and found plenty of offense in a 54-0 victory Friday night.

Faith had two 100-plus yard rushers in the game with Brent Simons carrying for 198 yards and Jarret Inghram scampering for 146. Lane Hildebrandt added 57 yards. The three players, along with Baily Escott, also lead the defense with five tackles.

Faith had a 34-point lead at halftime.

HERRIED 26, LEMMON/MCINTOSH 12: Ross Moser rushed for 168 yards to lead Herried to a 26-12 win over Lemmon on Friday in prep football action.

Herried quarterback Kyle Weisbeck helped with the rushing load, carrying 17 times for 106 yards as the Yellowjackets rolled up 288 yards on the ground. Weisbeck was also 8-of-13 for 77 yards.

The Cowboys’ Paden Tomac was 14-of-22 for 157 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Sackmann.

HARDING COUNTY 32, PHILIP 20: A 24-point second quarter doomed Philip in a 32-20 loss to Harding County on Friday in prep football action.

Casey Cvach carried the ball 20 times for 119 yards in the loss.

Harding County (2-1 overall) travels to Edgemont, while Philip (2-1) hosts New Underwood. Both games are Friday.

DUPREE 24, TIMBER LAKE 0: Treg Young and Colby Keegan combined for 205 yards on the ground, leading Dupree to a 24-0 win over Timber Lake in prep football action on Friday.

Young finished with 104 yards, while Keegan had 101 in the win.

Eric Aberle led Timber Lake with 168 yards on the ground.

Dupree (2-0 overall) travels to Lemmon/McIntosh on Friday, while Timber Lake hosts Lemmon/McIntosh on Sept. 26.

LITTLE WOUND 19, CHEYENNE-EAGLE BUTTE 6: Jace Mesteth threw two touchdown passes and returned an interception for a score as the  Little Wound Mustangs defeated Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 19-6 in prep football action Friday night.

The Braves’ lone score came from a five-yard Lucas Curley run in the first quarter.

“It was a physical game and our offense moved the ball in the first half,” said Cheyenne-Eagle Butte head coach Inukihaangaana Inukihaangaana. “They were able to take advantage of our mistakes and the interception really hurt us.”

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (1-1 overall) travels to Pine Ridge on Friday.

Stanley County 28, Miller 0:    Austin Iverson led Stanley County with 136 rushing yards that included a pair of touchdowns and the senior quarterback also threw a touchdown pass as the Buffaloes defeated Miller Area 28-0 in Friday night football action.

Tyler Reiman caught Iverson’s 26 yard TD pass to jumpstart the Buffalo offense in the first quarter. Chad Wieczorek blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown in the second quarter. Iverson accounted for Stanley County’s final scores.

Stanley County (1-1 overall) travels to Belle Fourche and Miller Area (0-3) travels to Platte-Geddes-Dakota Christian next Friday.

WALL 14, NEWELL 12: Wall’s Darick Eisenbraun proved a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense as Wall defeated Newell 14-12 in football action on Friday night.

Newell got on the board in the first quarter when Brandon Fox returned a kick 83 yards for a touchdown.

Eisenbraun, a junior, made a 95 yard touchdown run in the third to put Wall on the board. Eisenbraun finished the night with 294 rushing yards and also led the Eagles’ defense with 11 tackles.

Sandwiched between Wall scores, the Irrigators found paydirt again as Willie Woods caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Mutchler.

Also in the third, Billy Shull caught a pass from Dalton Kelly to tie the game and Kelly ran in the ball on the two-point conversion to give the Eagles the win.

Fox finished the night with 105 rushing yards. Sterling Boylan led the Irrigator defense with a game-high 19 tackles.

Wall finished the night with 347 total rushing yards while Newell had only 117.

NEW UNDERWOOD 12, WHITE RIVER 8: The New Underwood Tigers held off a late rally by White River and picked up a 12-8 win in prep football action.

New Underwood led 12-0 through three quarters of play before White River’s RJ Estes scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Chase Fairbanks late in the game.

New Underwood travels to Philip and White River (1-1) face Jones County in Murdo on Friday.
