The St. Thomas More-Rapid City Christian girls’ tennis team won three dual meets in Brookings on Monday.

The Cavaliers topped Aberdeen Roncalli 7-2, Brookings 8-1 and Milbank 9-0 in the three wins. The Cavaliers were dominant all day as they lost just two singles matches and one doubles match in the three duals. The duo of Denali Raforth and Marin Plumb took a hard-fought doubles loss to Roncalli’s Annie Dosch and Kaylyn Deiter in a thrilling 11-10 match, the day’s closest.

St. Thomas More-Rapid City Christian will travel to Madison today to take on the Bulldogs and Vermillion.

Sturgis 5, Todd County 4: The Sturgis girls tennis team earned a narrow 5-4 victory over Todd County on Monday with a mixed-up lineup.

“We got quite a few different girls in  their first varsity action,” Sturgis head coach Beau Garcia said. The doubles team of Morgan Austina and Taylor Kreutz earned its first varsity doubles win. Paige Hermanson and Ciera Whelchel, in Flights 5 and 6 respectively, earned their first varsity wins.

Sturgis will next be at a dual in Spearfish today, with the Greater Dakota Conference tennis meet next Monday and Tuesday.
