Briefs: Deadline nears to join YMCA basketball league

There is still time to register for the YMCA men’s over-40 basketball league as well as volleyball leagues.

The men’s over-40 basketball league will begin the week of Oct. 13. The registration deadline for that league is Monday. The fee for YMCA members to play is $15, and for community participants the fee is $50.

Men’s 6’s volleyball and women’s 6’s volleyball leagues will also begin the week of Oct. 13 and the deadline to register is Monday. Volleyball leagues must register as a team. Teams with three or more YMCA members pay a fee of $125 per team, and teams with less than three YMCA members will pay a fee of $185. For more information, call Dan at 718-9622.

Mountain biking group to host benefit

The Drty Grlz mountain biking group will host its Benefit Race/Ride at Storm Mountain on Sunday.

Money raised will benefit a fellow rider who had her bike stolen at this year’s Dakota 5-0 race in Spearfish.

Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. across from the Gaslight Restaurant in Rockerville. Fees are $25 for experts, $15 for adults and $5 for riders younger than 19. The race starts at 10 a.m.
