Woman critically injured in minivan rollover

A Washington state woman remained in critical condition Thursday after a rollover Tuesday near New Underwood on Interstate 90.

According to South Dakota Highway Trooper Ryan Mechaley, Silas Tabor, 56, and Cynthia Petrosky, 34, both of Spokane, were traveling east on I-90 about 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, when Tabor fell asleep while driving. The 1994 Ford Windstar minivan entered the median near mile post 70 and rolled 1-1/2 times.

Petrosky, who was not wearing a seat belt, had to be extricated from the minivan and then was flown to Rapid City

Regional Hospital. Tabor, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was in satisfactory condition Thursday night.

Tabor was cited for driving with a suspended license, Mechaley said.

Troopers Fred Braddock, Richard Miller and Matt Oxner, the Box Elder Fire Department, Rapid City Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Black Hills LifeFlight, Pennington County Search and Rescue and Pennington County Sheriff's office assisted at the scene.
