The newest radio station in the Rapid City area will try to collect more than a ton of food for the local food pantry Saturday, Nov. 22.
Shamus, one of the announcers for Hits 102.7 FM, will broadcast live from atop a delivery truck starting at 10 a.m. at Wal-Mart, on North La Crosse Street. The goal for the Supermarket Saturday event is 2,500 pounds of canned goods and other nonperishable items.
Requested items include canned goods such as vegetables, soups, meats, beans, tomato products and fruits. Also needed are dry goods, such as hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese, crackers, pasta, dried soups, coffee,
peanut butter and cereal. The drive also will accept diapers, toilet paper, shampoo and toothpaste.
Organizers ask that contributions not include baby food or glass containers.
