Farm Bureau meeting set for Nov. 16, 17

American Farm Bureau Federation president Bob Stallman will speak at the South Dakota Farm Bureau's 90th annual meeting Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17, in Pierre.

Stallman, a beef and rice farmer from Texas, will speak at the banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday.

All sessions will be at Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Pierre and are open to the public.

Other speakers scheduled for the convention include the national AFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Chairman, Chris Chinn from Emden, Mo.

In addition, Ron Hanson from the University of Nebraska will give a presentation on farm family ownership succession titled, "You can buy the farm, but just remember I still own it."

Delegates representing county Farm Bureaus will elect board members and officers and set the organization's policy for the coming year.

The agenda also includes a vespers service, business meetings, recognitions and awards.

About 250 Farm Bureau members are expected to attend.
