Satterness elected to SDACCC board

Wylla Satterness, director of the career center at Black Hills State University, was elected to the South Dakota Association of College Career Centers board of directors during the organization's recent annual meeting. Holmes will serve a two-year term as an at-large board member. SDACCC's mission is to advance the career development and employment of students attending South Dakota's post-secondary educational institutions.

Six nominated for Chamber board

Six people were nominated for positions on the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce's board of directors: Sandra Burns of Project Solutions, Cheryl Chapman of Natrix Consulting Group, Dave Crabb of NWE Management, Ron Jeffries of Central States Fair, William May of Black Hills Surgery Center and Jim White of Sound Pro.

Rooks joins Robert Sharp & Associates

Natalie Rooks has joined Robert Sharp & Associates as project manager of RSA's interactive media department. Rooks is a recent graduate of Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she earned a bachelor of arts in public relations and a minor in economics.

Kahler gets five-star rating from registry

Financial planner Rick Kahler has been awarded the Paladin Registry's Five Star quality designation, reserved only for those professionals who meet the registry's standards for credentials, ethics and business practices. Fewer than 10 percent of today's practicing planners and advisers meet the standards. Kahler, president of Kahler Financial Group, was first admitted into the registry in 2004.

Bender joins engineering firm

Mike Bender has joined Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson, a local engineering, planning, surveying and asset development firm. Bender is a graduate of North Dakota State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in environmental design and a bachelor's in landscape architecture. He brings more than 15 years of experience as a landscape architect and will work with the Municipal Group.

Delegates attend NARFE convention

Bernie Christner, Dave Matson, Sandi Matson, Peggy Christner, Jim Dowding, Nancy Dowding, Richard Neubert, Don Toso and Brigid Flatley were delegates from Rapid Chapter 0336 and attended the 43rd annual South Dakota Federation of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Convention in Sioux Falls last month.

Goodsell named Super Lawyer

G. Verne Goodsell has been named to the Great Plains Super Lawyers list for 2009. Only 5 percent of the attorneys in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa are named to this list. The selection process includes peer nominations, a blue ribbon panel review and independent research of the candidates. Goodsell practices personal injury and business and commercial litigation at Goodsell Quinn Law Firm in Rapid City.

Locals achieve high Reliv sales volume

Harlan Humphrey of Piedmont placed 13th in sales volume among more than 55,000 U.S. distributors for Reliv International, a direct selling company that markets nutritional supplements. Humphrey earned a $750 bonus for the accomplishment. Rapid City residents Eddie and Karen Rypkema placed 17th in volume that same month. They earned a $500 bonus.

Gonzalez joins Tastefully Simple

Jessie Gonzalez of Ellsworth Air Force Base has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national gourmet products direct-sales company.

Brenden joins mortgage insurer

Cassaundra "Cassie" Brenden has joined mortgage insurer Radian Guaranty Inc. as an account manager in North Dakota, South Dakota and northern Minnesota. With three years of sales experience, Brenden served most recently as a senior loan processor at Midwest Financial Mortgage Company, where she customized loan programs for numerous clients. Brenden earned a bachelor's degree in business from Moorhead (Minn.) State University.
