HILL CITY - The Sculpture in the Hills art show this weekend will showcase some of the artwork that is making Hill City a destination for art aficionados from throughout the country.

The juried show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in Hill City.

In about 5,000 square feet of space on Main Street, 25 artists from across the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states will display sculptures in a variety of styles and mediums, including bronze, stone, wood and scrap iron. This year's artists include Ray Kobald, Dale Lamphere, John Lopez and James Moore.

The event will also feature an art walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and tours of the Black Hills Bronze Foundry, the only foundry in the area.

Hill City has become known for its arts scene in recent years, aiming to rival other well-known sculpture-arts scenes in Santa Fe, N.M.; Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Sedona, Ariz.; and Loveland, Colo.
