A popular Sturgis motorcycle rally establishment has changed hands.
Documents filed at the Meade County Courthouse indicate co-owner Gary Lippold sold Glencoe CampResort and the Rock'n the Rally amphitheater to California resident Devorah Lopez. Sean Clark of Nevada will operate both venues.
The property's selling price was listed as $8,585,000. An $8,595 state transfer fee increased the final cost to almost $8.6 million. That fee is 1 percent of the land price.
Lippold and Lopez did not return phone calls seeking comment.
Ross Lamphere, owner of the nearby Lamphere Campground, said he can't see the Glencoe sale having much effect on his establishment.
"I've met Sean and look forward to having him as a neighbor," he said
Lamphere said the relationship between the two campgrounds has been good.
Glencoe opened in 1983 as campground but has grown considerably over 25 years.
Its site east of Sturgis spans just over 1,000 acres and includes Thunder Road, the Thunder Dome, KickStart Travel Center and Sturgis Dragway, which were not part of the sale.
The campground property was in Lippold's family for more than 100 years. His great-grandfather bought the property and named it Glencoe after the Scottish valley.
The amphitheater in Glencoe's northern section opened in 2006. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were the main attraction.
KISS and Kenny Chesney performed at Rock'n the Rally in 2008.
