The Bluegrass Christmas in the Black Hills and Christmas Bake Sale will be at 7:30 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at the Masonic Hall, 618 Kansas City St.

The concert will feature the Black Hills Bluegrass Band, whose repertoire includes a wide variety of sounds, including bluegrass, folk, newgrass, country and some tunes written by contemporary composers. The show will feature a set of Christmas music and conclude with a set of bluegrass.

The Black Hills Bluegrass Band was formed in 1981 to help provide music for the first annual Black Hills Bluegrass Festival. The group includes three of the original members: Doug Thomas, lead guitar and vocals; Carol McConnell, rhythm guitar and autoharp; and Perry Washenberger, bass. Pete Wouden, who has been with the group about 15 years, provides banjo and mandolin as well as vocals. Fiddler Larry Lashley joined the band about a year ago.

Intermission will be a time to check out the Christmas goodies at the bake sale.

The concert is sponsored by the friends of Bluegrass and Acoustic Music and the Dahl Arts Center. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 day of show.
