The Black Hills chapter of the Pheasants Forever will offer western South Dakota landowners assistance on developing wildlife habitat on their property during a workshop March 5 in Rapid City.
The fourth annual wildlife-habitat workshop will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Lincoln Room of the Ramkota Hotel. Speakers at the free workshop will include Pheasants Forever farm specialist Jim Ristau and the organization's state biologist Ben Bigalke; biologist Dave Kimble and regional land manager Dennis Mann of the state Game, Fish & Parks Department in Rapid City; and conservation specialists from the Natural Resource Conservation Service in several Black Hills area counties.
Topics will include habitat development, fencing, riparian projects, the Conservation Reserve Program, food plots, woody cover projects and the new federal Farm Bill.
The workshops are free, but seating is limited. Interested landowners are urged to call ahead for reservations at 391-1502 or 348-2406.
