SPEARFISH - Prairie Hills Transit in Spearfish will offer shuttle services to and from Deadwood New Year's Eve, according to a news release, in an effort to provide safe transportation for people making the trip to ring in the New Year.
For a $10 trip fee to help cover costs for the route, riders can get on the bus at Spearfish City Park in front of the pavilion and be dropped-off at the Historic Franklin Hotel in Deadwood. Return trip is free with ticket. Riders will also get a free $12 coupon book from the Silverado.
Pick-ups will begin at 6 p.m. from Spearfish City Park, continuing from the park at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Return trips from Deadwood, with pick-up at the Franklin Hotel/Silverado Casino, will be at 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.
Riders can also choose a one-way option from Deadwood or Spearfish.
Prairie Hills Transit is a nonprofit program and a United Way agency.
The shuttle rides are a public service being provided as a safe, convenient alternative for residents planning to celebrate in Deadwood.
No food or beverages are allowed on Prairie Hills Transit buses.

Revelers in Sturgis will also get some direct service to Deadwood on New Year's Eve.
Da Bus will offer rides to and from Sturgis to Deadwood.
For a $10 trip fee for individuals or $15 per couple, riders can get on the bus in the parking lot at Lynn's Dakota Mart, Phil-Town Best Western or Days Inn at Sturgis and be dropped-off at Cadillac Jacks or near the No. 10 Saloon in Deadwood. The return trip is free with ticket.
The first bus departs Sturgis at 5:30 p.m. and every 90 minutes after, says Da Bus owner Steve Barry. Pick ups are every 90 minutes beginning at 6:30 in Deadwood. The last departure from Deadwood is 2:15 a.m., Barry said.
This is the ninth year Barry has operated Da Bus on New Year's Eve.
"The buses have been nearly full. It's a great tool to keep intoxicated individuals off the road," he said.
