A former Badlands National Park ranger who has worked 25 years for the National Park Service is the park's new deputy superintendent.
Steve Thede worked as a supervisory park ranger in the Badlands for four years in the 1990s.
"I am pleased to have such a seasoned ranger join our staff," park superintendent Paige Baker said in a news release. "Steve's long and successful career in the National Park Service is the right fit for Badlands National Park."
Thede has worked at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Castillo de San Marcos, Bent's Old Fort and Whiskeytown, where he managed the interpretation and cultural resources division for the past 10 years.
Thede also completed details as a special assistant in the director's office in Washington and as superintendent of Oregon Caves National Monument.
