Kohl's Department Store will donate $15,563 to the "Don't Thump Your Melon" head injury prevention program at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Company officials will make the ceremonial check presentation at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16., at the Rapid City store.

As part of the Kohl's Care for Kids Program, the store holds four special sales annually, donating the proceeds to children at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The "Don't Thump Your Melon" team will be at Kohl's from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the check presentation and to offer free helmets to the first 100 children. The team also will educate children and parents on how to properly fit and wear their helmet.
