Make plans to spend an entertaining afternoon with the Youth & Family Services Child Care children, ages 2 to 5, performing their spring program, Read, Sing, Play: An ABC Sing Along with Sign Language, on April 11 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at 120 E. Adams St., in the cafeteria.

The children learned sign language as part of alphabet and multicultural lesson plans, said Comfort Doe, YFS child care teacher. It has become a popular practice in the classroom, and students have asked to learn more. Some are now able to sign with their teachers and can recognize and sign their names.

The 40 children from two classrooms began practicing for the program last September. The program will provide an entertaining afternoon and will also help the students gain self-confidence and grow socially and emotionally.

Refreshments will follow the program.
