A Hay Springs, Neb., man is in critical condition after a four-wheeler landed on his leg.
Jeff Raymer, 36, was riding an all-terrain vehicle at the motocross track northeast of Chadron, Neb., when the accident happened about 5 p.m. Sunday.
"When we got there, it appeared that the four-wheeler had taken a pretty good-sized jump and (he) may have lost control, causing him to go up over an embankment," Chadron police officer Bryan Linegar said. "They just said that he jumped pretty high and landed pretty hard."
Linegar said the four-wheeler - which he described as a "farm-and-ranch-style" rig, rather than a motocross design - apparently landed on Raymer's right leg, causing a severe laceration in the back of his knee and a serious leg fracture. Raymer was not wearing a helmet.
Raymer was taken to Chadron Community Hospital, then by air ambulance to Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.
Linegar said Raymer's two children and a friend were with him when the accident happened.
