Storybook Island, Rapid City's children's park, hopes to collect 200,000 pennies in July and August.

The $20,000 treasure trove will fund a 25-foot pirate ship planned for the pond near the attraction's gift shop.

The "Pennies for Pirate Ship" kick-off will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Storybook Island in Sioux Park off Sheridan Lake Drive.
