Hospitals in Hot Springs, Chamberlain and Winner are among 14 rural hospitals receiving state grants for technology projects.
Gov. Mike Rounds announced the distribution of $275,005 in grants through the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program Wednesday.
Fall River Health Services at Hot Springs receives $25,000 for a computerized medication-dispensing and verification system to reduce medication errors.
The Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center was awarded $10,000, which will be used to create a computerized virtual-care training center to educate staff and improve direct patient care.
Winner Regional Healthcare Center will use its $25,000 grant to install a modern nurse call system with recording capabilities.
Rural health-care centers at Armour, Clear Lake, Eureka, Faulkton, Madison, Miller, Mobridge, Redfield, Vermillion, Wagner and Wessington Springs also received grants.
