Kohl's department store in Rapid City, in support of Rapid City Regional Hospital's "Don't Thump Your Melon" program, will give away 100 youth bicycle helmets from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 23.
Regional Hospital's "Melon" team will help properly fit the helmets to each child. For others who already have a helmet, the team will educate children and adults on how to properly fit and wear their helmets.
Kohl's bought5 the helmets from proceeds earned through its Kohl's Care for Kids Program. Proceeds from special sales events throughout the year are donated to help children at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Don't Thump Your Melon is a helmet safety and head injury prevention education program at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Presenters visit Rapid City schools to encourage children to wear helmets when biking, skating or riding scooters to prevent head injuries.
