RAPID CITY - "Imprint," a locally produced supernatural thriller filmed at the 777 Ranch south of Rapid City and on Pine Ridge Reservation, is premiering at Carmike 10 in Rapid City on Friday, Sept. 14.

A premiere is also planned for Pine Ridge Reservation on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Lead actress Tonantzin Carmelo ("Into the West"), as well as other actors from the film, will attend both premieres, according to a news release.

Carmelo, Carla-Rae Holland, Michael Spears ("Into the West") and Cory Brusseau star in the movie.

Native American mythologies are woven through the film, according to a news release from Linn Productions, a local production company.

Executive producer Carolyn Linn is working with Carmike Theatres to release the movie regionally. Carmike has digital capabilities in many of its theaters nationwide, including three locations in South Dakota, making it less expensive for independent filmmakers to release their work because 35 mm prints aren't needed.

After the Rapid City premiere, releases are planned on 17 screens in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado.

Carmelo stars as Native American attorney Shayla Stonefeather, who prosecutes a Lakota teen in a controversial murder trial. When she returns home after the trial, strange visions and ghostly voices propel her on an unexpected journey. Though Shayla initially rejects a spiritual explanation for her experiences, she begins to uncover what she believes is a link between the visions and her brother's disappearance two years earlier.

Determined to solve the mystery, Shayla confronts and follows the apparitions, leading her to a revelation.

Michael Linn and Keith Davenport wrote the screenplay, Michael Linn directed, Marc Linn was the assistant director, and Chris Eyre and Linn Productions produced the movie.

Special Premier Tickets, for the premiere showing and the after party, are available at Linn Productions.
