The Bureau of Land Management is seeking nominations for positions on its Dakota Resource Advisory Council, which covers North Dakota and South Dakota.
Nominations should be submitted by April 14. A completed background information form and letter of reference must be included for each nominee, according to a BLM news release. The background information form is available on the Internet at www.blm.gov/mt/st/en.html.
The Resource Advisory Council advises the federal bureau in the planning and management of public lands administered by the BLM.
The council has 15 members who serve staggered, three-year terms and who represent various interest groups. The terms of five members expire in September.
The council has one opening for someone representing holders of federal grazing permits, energy and mineral development, timber industry, transportation or rights of way, off-highway vehicle use or commercial recreation.
It has one opening for someone representing elected state or local government officials, employees of state agencies that manage natural resources, Native American tribes, academicians involved in natural sciences or the public at large.
It has three openings for representatives of environmental organizations, recreation, archaeological and historic interests or wild-horse and burro groups.
Nominations from South Dakota should be mailed to Marian Atkins, BLM field manager, 310 Roundup St., Belle Fourche, SD 57717.
For more information, call Atkins at 605-892-7000.
