The Bureau of Land
Management is seeking nominations for positions on its Dakota
Resource Advisory Council, which covers North Dakota and South
Dakota.
Nominations should
be submitted by April 14. A completed background information form
and letter of reference must be included for each nominee,
according to a BLM news release. The background information form is
available on the Internet at
www.blm.gov/mt/st/en.html.
The Resource
Advisory Council advises the federal bureau in the planning and
management of public lands administered by the BLM.
The council has 15
members who serve staggered, three-year terms and who represent
various interest groups. The terms of five members expire in
September.
The council has one
opening for someone representing holders of federal grazing
permits, energy and mineral development, timber industry,
transportation or rights of way, off-highway vehicle use or
commercial recreation.
It has one opening
for someone representing elected state or local government
officials, employees of state agencies that manage natural
resources, Native American tribes, academicians involved in natural
sciences or the public at large.
It has three
openings for representatives of environmental organizations,
recreation, archaeological and historic interests or wild-horse and
burro groups.
