BELLE FOURCHE - Eighteen-year-old Lexi Moul, already on her way to a professional country music career, won Friday's Colgate Country Showdown talent show in Belle Fourche.

The brother-and-sister duo of Maggie, 18, and Lane Speiers, 13, of Spearfish took second place in the contest. Singer-songwriter Rebel Van Loh of Belle Fourche, a Hill City native, placed third.

Moul, who will be moving from her home in Ogallala, Neb., to Nashville in August to pursue a recording contract, will have a stop in Mitchell on Aug. 30. She will represent the Black Hills area at the showdown's state finals.

Eighteen amateurs and budding professionals sang two or three songs on the Herrmann Park band shell stage under the scrutiny of three judges. Regional radio station Eagle Country 95.9/96.3 sponsored the event.
