The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will host a Suicide Prevention Summit on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1 and 2, in Rosebud.

The Rosebud Reservation has been deeply affected by a high rate of suicides. According to the Indian Health Service, the Rosebud Indian Reservation has the highest suicide rate in the world for males ages 10 to 24.

A statement issued by Rosebud Sioux Tribe President Rodney Bordeaux said, "The summit is a critical joining of federal, tribal and private sector partnerships as we work toward building a healthy nation in body, mind and spirit. We have experienced the pain of suicide for too long, and the summit will give us a cornerstone to lift the hope and vision of our people to begin healing and restoring our families."

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Sinte Gleska University Multipurpose Building at the Sinte Gleska campus in Mission.
