A fight between drinking buddies has landed one man in the hospital and the other in jail.
Rapid City police say Francis Black Feather, 42, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after the altercation at a home shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. His companion, Barney Peoples, 38, despite eight stab wounds, walked to a business on Eighth Street to seek help.
Sgt. Dale McCabe said officers back-tracked Peoples' trail to the house, where they found Black Feather. What caused the argument between the acquaintances was not immediately known, but "alcohol was involved," McCabe said.
Peoples suffered cuts to his legs, neck, shoulders and back. According to investigators' reports, the stabs did not appear to strike vital organs, and the wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.
A Rapid City Regional Hospital spokeswoman said Peoples was in fair condition Friday evening.
Black Feather was being held in Pennington County Jail. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are possible.
