Several juveniles face criminal complaints of burglary, theft and intentional damage to two Sturgis businesses.
According to a news release from the Sturgis Police Department, officers on Oct. 1 were alerted that several juveniles had been seen entering and leaving the rear door of an unoccupied building.
The back doors of both businesses were kicked in. Police say at least 11 middle-school-age juveniles are suspected in the break-ins and thefts at Sturgis Tattoo Shop on First Street and Buddha's Tattoo Shop on Main Street.
Investigators found extensive damage in the buildings, some of it caused by a BB gun. About $6,600 in property was stolen, which included cases of rally-related merchandise. Also stolen, according to police, were tattoo guns, display racks of body piercing jewelry and earrings, tattoo art design books, fax machines, power converters and a small copy machine.
Some of the property has been recovered. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected, according to the news release.
Anyone with information regarding the break-ins should call the Sturgis Police Department at 347-2573.
